Thursday 3rd June & Saturday 5th June 2021

Come and spend the day in a beautiful country setting exploring the basics of beekeeping.

The day will comprise of a mixture of theory (undercover) and a practical session (weather permitting).

We will look at the equipment, a little history, the beekeeping year and inspect the bees.

We will touch on disease, swarming, honey and other produce in management and general husbandry throughout the beekeeping year.

There will be a lunch of wonderful healthy fresh local produce provided.

The course will be delivered by Imogen Hallam of Artemis Bees – a local bee farmer and beekeeper with over 15 years of experience working with bees from the River Otter at Otterton and the surrounding area where the bees are kept on organic land.

“I currently have eighty plus colonies across East and Mid Devon, which keep me very busy. My ethos is that I keep bees as organically as I can, treat them with respect and consideration and give them a lot of love.

I believe farming can and should be done with the maximum respect and reverence for the animals and plants grown and raised. And that it be done with the minimum of stress to them.

I have natural runny honey, soft set honey and comb honey for sale. I also sell other bee-related products candles and wax wraps.”

The venue is Holly Cottage, East Village. There will be a maximum of 6 people attending the course.
